our
story

Sarah Jo Brockman handcrafts each piece of Jo Bird Jewelry. Raised by two artists who valued creativity and doing what you love, Sarah began making jewelry as a young teen and started a professional line in 2005. Inspired by her childhood nickname, "Jo Bird," her designs represent a way of appreciating your roots and discovering your own origin of inner beauty through personal style. Sarah's first designs featured Mother of Pearl and Freshwater Pearls, attracted by the unique transparency and silky smoothness of these materials. Now a signature of JBJ designs, Sarah continues to find great inspiration in creating new jewelry concepts with shells and pearls.

Sarah's creative inspiration stems from a layered life full of movement. Sarah balances her time passionately working in her Bellingham home studio, climbing with her husband in the southwest desert, running miles of mountain trails in NW Washington, and swimming her heart out with the local masters swim team. Sarah knows that like her, active women appreciate fashion that is flattering, yet practical. Our lifestyles take us from the yoga mat to the executive desk; from the bike to an evening out; and we want jewelry that looks great with running tights and a thermal or vintage jeans and high shaft leather boots. Your life is dynamic, and Sarah loves to create jewelry that adds a signature sparkle to your most sophisticated and your most rugged – life experiences.
